Zanzibar Parsi Temple - Update

Zanzibar Parsi Temple - Update

Ruins of Zanzibar Zoroastrian Agiary built in 1895 (a short stroll from Stone Town along Nyerere Road).

In old days the temple grounds, which looked like a beautiful garden with fruit trees, jasmine, and tall coconut palms bustling in the wind, could be entered through elegant wrought iron gates.

Beautiful rosarium filled the air with the aroma of the blossoming flowers. Nearby there was a Parsi cemetery located.

In 1984 or 1985 the sacred fire has "died out" because there was no Parsi dasturs (priests) to support it anymore. This is how the Temple looks in 2023.
