SJCS going ... going ... gone

SJCS going....going....gone???

Poor old SJCS, seemingly bereft of the seaward verandas that I used to enjoy as a mtoto. Can't but help noticing that the Kungu tree anchorage has gotten a wee bit crowded since my time at SJCS.

Remember Karn Singh and his younger brother Tartahal Singh? They once built a 18' wooden boat, all by themselves in their garage. How neat is that!!! They were real fundies. All the invited guests, and free loaders, had a successful small cruise after it was launched by the steps that lead to the sea.

All present were delighted as to the sea worthiness of the small craft. It reminded me of a little pup who had been unleashed for the first time in his life. Later, the guests disembarked at the shore by the stairs.

The brothers then rowed the craft to the deeper depth where they dropped the anchor and swam ashore. By next morning the jolly little boat was gone, never to be seen to this day. As an aside, that particular anchorage, those days, was exclusively used gratuitously by, you guessed it, mazungus. Mmmm.

The two brothers are no longer. But are fondly remembered ....... as is their feisty little boat with no name.

Karpal.
